Learning by Doing: Exploring the World of Skills—NHLPS Students Visit PSSCIVE for Experiential Vocational Learning

Navnidh Hassomal Lakhani Public School organised an educational visit to the Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) from 17 to 20 August 2026 for students of Grades 6 to 9. The visit aimed to familiarise students with Kaushal Bodh, Kaushal Vikas, and the importance of vocational education. CBSE has introduced the Kaushal Bodh book under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) to promote skill-based and vocational learning among school students.

During the visit, students were introduced to various aspects of skill-based learning and enthusiastically participated in hands-on vocational activities. The experiential sessions helped them understand the value of practical skills, creativity, teamwork, and the dignity of labour.

The visit also broadened students’ understanding of career and livelihood opportunities beyond conventional academic pathways. They learnt that vocational skills can not only complement formal careers but can also empower individuals to become self-reliant, pursue skilled occupations, and create sustainable livelihoods.

The visit proved to be an enriching experience, enabling students to connect classroom learning with real-life applications and encouraging them to become confident, skilled, and future-ready learners.
