DEAR ACTIVITY IN NAVNIDH

‘Books are our best friends and true guide’ with this view, On 17^th August, DEAR Activity was conducted in the premises of Navnidh Hassomal Lakhani Public School. Rev. Siddh Bhauji Chairman, SHKES, Shri A. C. Sadhwani, Secretary, SHKES graced the occasion with their pious presence. Mr. Manish R. K. Jain, Principal, NHLPS, Ms. Amrita Motwani, Vice-Principal, NHLPS also participated energetically and motivated the teachers and students to read and enhance their knowledge.

          D.E.A.R. stands for “Drop Every-thing and Read”, a national celebration of reading designed to remind everybody to make reading a priority in their lives. It is held every year on 12^th August.

The main purpose behind this activity is to develop love for reading among the students of all age groups. Students were made aware of the advantages of reading. They were told that reading not only improves vocabulary and language but also increases creativity and imagination. Reading also makes a person smart and increases one’s desire towards achieving goals. Its biggest advantage is improving memory and it also gives a new perspective to life as readers are leaders.

          The students of Std. I-XII participated enthusiastically in this activity. They sat in circles with their class teacher in the assembly ground and read the books of their interest for one hour. The students demanded the continuity of this activity at least once a month.

          From the members of management to IV class employees, everybody participated whole heartedly in this activity. This activity was successfully conducted under the guidance of librarian, Ms. Kajal Assudani.
